When I say "ground your body," I am not speaking metaphorically today! I mean, like, put your feet in the dirt!
(I put a * next to the word ground, though, because actually, sand, rocks or a naturally occurring body of water count, too! I read that concrete also counts, due to its conductive properties, but... it doesn't sound as
nice.)
Not to be overly hippy dippy or anything, but... touching your body directly to the earth is good for your health. It can help you feel calmer and more energized.
We tend to forget that our bodies run on electricity! And electrical circuits need healthy grounding - connecting to the earth for healthy flow of electrons.
So, for at least a few minutes a day, be in physical touch with the earth! Walk barefoot around a nice patch of earth or stick your feet in the water for a few minutes!
Here is a short article that includes some of the current research on grounding.
